Pac Manの意味はホッケーのパック(puck)に由来する

パックマンは日本のゲーム会社ナムコ(namco)の有名なゲームである。英語圏ではマリオよりも多くの人に知られているゲームキャラクターであり、最も認知度の高いゲームおよびキャラクターでもある。もちろん、韓国でもパックマンのおおよそのゲームプレイ画面は誰もが知っているほど有名である。

もともとの英語表記はPuck-Manを想定していたという。ホッケーのパック(puck)に似ていたためである。しかし、書かれたときに"P"が"F"に変えられることを懸念し、Puck ManではなくPac Manになった。
