date Command

If date is given no arguments, it prints the current system time and date.
If options are provided, it changes the system time and date accordingly.

Syntax

date [yymmddhhmm [ss] ]

Parameter Description

  • yy is the two-digit year, and mm is the month. dd is the day.
  • hh is expressed in 24-hour format, and mm means minutes.
  • The final ss means seconds and may be omitted.
